Why did you pursue the CPTD?
Pursuing the CPTD was a way for me to not only develop my knowledge base, but to show the world that I am a capable and credible professional in the world of talent development.

How have you benefited from the credential—professionally and/or personally?
The process of preparing for the CPTD pushed me to learn and understand my field in more depth, which in turn pushed me to reassess programs, procedures, and courses that previously existed. It also helped me to look at the bigger picture and think more strategically.

What advice would you share with others considering certification?
I would recommend that those pursuing a certification join a study group. This will help you bounce ideas off of each other, as well as hold you accountable.

This is an important professional milestone that demonstrates my commitment to the field.

How did you get into the talent development field?
Originally, I was a high school teacher but took time off when my children were both young. I found a part-time job while they were in kindergarten that allowed me to dabble in talent management.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
