Rising expectations of patients, compliance regulations, and evolving technology are just a few challenges healthcare professionals face. What’s more, all of this is occurs amid the backdrop of a fast-paced, budget-constrained, stressful environment that literally deals with life and death situations. Fortunately, there is a whole community of executives, providers, managers, and trainers ready to help you at the ATD 2018 Conference & Expo. Join experts May 6-9 in San Diego, California, to learn how to create a next-generation care environment through learning, talent development, and cultural change.
For instance, burnout and stress are critical issues for healthcare workers. Sunday’s session, Rolling Out Resiliency, explores how to identify opportunities to incorporate resiliency tools in your department and organization to positively affect teams. Katrina Coleman and Lyndley O'Dell, from the Maryland Healthcare Education Institute, also discuss how to practice resiliency tools on an individual level to discover real-time benefits.
Two sessions on Monday focus on culture. For starters, Jacque Burandt leads the session: Creating an Award-Winning Culture in Healthcare. Jacque led the team at University Health System (UHS), San Antonio, Texas, to win seven ATD BEST Awards and ATD's first Innovation in Talent Development Award. She explains how you can develop the relationships inside and outside your organization to ensure success in transforming its culture. Meanwhile, Culture of Care: How Hospital Culture Affects the Patient Experience, explores how one hospital transformed its culture. Susan Carroll and Jared Jones discuss how a new change management model dramatically improved the patient experience.
You can check out how healthcare organizations are using online learning—benefits, drawbacks, and opportunities—during a few sessions on Tuesday. During a panel session, Disruption in Healthcare Learning: Online Learning Experiences, learn how three institutions used new tech to tackle “disruption with disruption” for some great training results. And Wisdom Within: The Art of Spreading Best Practices looks at how another hospital integrated video into its patient experience and culture work. The speakers offer ideas on how you can do the same to improve your customer and employee satisfaction.
