(From BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, the 13th Annual FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For list was announced with some of the country's largest and most notable companies leading the pack, such as: SAS, Edward Jones, Google, and Dreamworks Animation SKG. San Francisco-based Great Place to Work Institute produces the FORTUNE 100 Best list each year. The winners are selected based on responses to the Institute's proprietary employee survey, the Trust Index, and a systematic audit of the companies' workplace practices and policies. The Institute's methodology measures the level of trust that exists between employees and management, the pride employees express about the company and the camaraderie employees share. The FORTUNE 100 Best have exceptional results by all 3 measures.

"Trust is a key value in any relationship, and it's the same for employee/employer relationships. There has to be a foundation of trust for a business to excel," said Ricardo Lange, President of Great Place to Work Institute. "All of the companies on the FORTUNE 100 Best list have cultivated this value, and in a time where US job satisfaction has reached the lowest point in two decades -- according to The Conference Board -- these companies continue to enjoy a workplace culture that goes beyond being satisfying, and is truly great."

Having business leaders who deliver on promises and "walk the talk" is a critical component to being a great workplace. SAS, this year's number one and a list maker since the first FORTUNE 100 Best list in 1993, is expert at walking the talk. Heralded for its open communication channels which keep all employees on the highest to the lowest rung informed of important business decisions and how those decisions might impact them, SAS understands that honest, two-way communication is critical to creating a great workplace culture.
