Make a Happy Hope bag to give a child a smile.
Since 2011, the Happy Hope Foundation has been helping children battling chronic or life-threatening illnesses take their minds off their treatment with its signature Happy Hope activity bags. ATD23 will welcome Happy Hope Foundation Founder and CEO Emi Burke and Executive Director Wendy Webster to speak during a session on volunteer engagement at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 22. ATD23 attendees will also have the chance during the conference to assist Happy Hope reach its goal of helping one million kids in need by 2024.
From Monday through Wednesday, stop by the TD For Good’s EXPO station and help put Hope Bags together. The bags, which the foundation has already given to more than 650,000 hospitalized kids, contain:
Hope Hero coloring book
Crayons
An activity sheet
Stickers, stamps, or related items
Hope Hero cards
Bubbles
A pinwheel
Depending on availability, there may be additional items included in the bags.
ATD Director of Conferences Jennifer Broering says that Webster understands TD For Good’s ultimate goals: to give back and to have a lasting impact.
“Though Happy Hope is in Boston, they work with companies across the US to engage employees and make an impact,” Broering explains. “I thought it would be great to bring someone on-site to help initiate these opportunities for attendees from so many places.”
After ATD23, the Happy Hope Foundation will distribute the bags to hospitals and shelters around San Diego.
