Who are the more than 5,000 talent development professionals who have earned the APTD or CPTD credential? Get to know the talented and diverse community:
Rachel Fiorentino is the Director of Operational Training and Strategy. She earned the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD®) credential in 2020.
Why did you pursue the APTD®/CPTD®? I pursued the CPTD because I wanted to elevate my professional credibility. I am dedicated to excellence and continuous learning and recognize the value of being at the forefront of best practices, industry trends, and emerging discoveries in neuroscience as it relates to learning, training, talent development, and improving human performance.
How do you think certification helps the talent development field? By staying current, you inspire confidence in employers and clients, foster valuable connections through networking, and gain a competitive edge in the job market. Ultimately, the CPTD certification empowers you to make a significant impact, driving personal growth and professional success while inspiring others to reach their full potential.
What does having your credential mean to you? Everything! Mostly it holds me accountable for being at the top of my game. Given that there are more than 160,000 learners who engage with ATD’s programs, having a certification puts me in the top 3 percent of the industry. Having a CPTD specifically may put me in the top 1 percent. In order to make a difference in the talent and development field, we need to prioritize our own talent and development.
How did you get into the talent development field? I started out in early childhood education, moved into the corporate world as an office manager, and fell in love with staff development. I was able to join a training team within behavioral healthcare in 2010 and haven’t looked back!
