July 2014 Letter to the Community: Signing Off

Warning: This is a bittersweet post, as it is my last letter to you.

I am moving on to pursue my passions in the world of scholarly publishing. As you can imagine, I’m feeling a combination of excitement and sadness. But most of all, I’m incredibly hopeful for the future of ATD and this community. I just didn’t want to leave without saying farewell!

I have learned so much from you. The passion, hard work, and creativity you bring to everything you do is a huge inspiration that influences more people than you might know. And speaking of passion, you’ve demonstrated for me the importance of always nurturing your greatest passions and talents, as a professional, a human being, and a lifelong learner—a critical lesson that really does stick.

I hope you continue to share your own passion for work, knowledge, and people with ATD. Rest assured, before you know it, you will have a new friendly face and voice to serve as your community manager—and he or she is in for a truly fulfilling adventure.

But until you hear from your new Community of Practice Manager, if you have general questions and ideas for L&D or Science of Learning, please email my colleague Justin Brusino. If you are interested in contributing as a guest blogger, my colleague Ryann Ellis will be happy to work with you and bring your idea to life.

In the pursuit of doing what you most care about, you often reconnect with people down the road. I hope to run into many of you again, so please keep in touch with me on LinkedIn in the meantime. Thanks for letting me serve you these last three years. Keep those passions going strong.
