The first 2013 issue of The Public Manager is online.
Although there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Federal jobs and budgets, there are a lot of exciting things happening in Federal agencies. Technology—especially social media tools—are invading agency workplaces, and helping agencies engage and educate citizens in the projects and services available throughout the government.
Twitter feeds, Facebook pages, mobile apps, and virtual worlds are keeping federal workers and citizens connected 24/7. This issue’s forum examines the implementation and strategy behind social media in government and the many tools that help keep the government transparent. The Technology column explores the bring-your-own-device initiative, which is giving workers the ability to work where, how, and when they desire.
Human capital investment is also a theme in this issue, which looks at the character of successful leaders, the importance of investing in and training employees, and the critical parts of a succession planning initiative.
I’m excited about the content of this issue. Visit the site, and then let me know how we can better serve you at The Public Manager.
