Welcome to San Diego

Enjoy the conference and its location to the fullest.

If you’re attending ATD23 in person, you’ll spend almost a week in San Diego enjoying conference events, such as education sessions, keynote speakers, exhibitor booths, and more. But what about what the city has to offer? Here’s a quick primer on how you can have fun in San Diego outside of the convention center.

Entertainment. The San Diego Padres will play a weekend series against the Boston Red Sox May 19–21; make the quick half-mile journey from the San Diego Convention Center over to Petco Park if you want to catch a baseball game. The San Diego Zoo, the most visited zoo in the US, is also less than five miles from the convention center.

If you find yourself in the mood for a little bit of history, the USS Midway Museum showcases an extensive collection of aircraft in downtown San Diego. You can walk there from the convention center, enjoy the scenery, and be at the museum in less than a half hour. If you’re taking an extended vacation in the city after ATD23’s conclusion, you can spend a day at SeaWorld, which is about a 15-minute drive from the convention center.

Speaking of amusement parks, Belmont Park, which is also approximately 15 minutes from the convention center, offers free entry and is home to the famous Giant Dipper roller coaster.

Dining. Let’s talk about food. There are plenty of options for you to choose from for dinner or lunch while you’re in the city.

For a good steakhouse, check out Lou & Mickey’s or Fleming’s. Or you can try some soul food at Cerveza Jack’s Gaslamp. There is plenty within walking distance—everything from a dining experience at Nobu to a quick bite at Subway. You won’t need a ride to get a good meal while you’re at ATD23.

Check out the schedule to see which restaurants (including Lou & Mickey’s) are on the ATD23 Meet to Eat list, which enables you to sign up for reservations to eat with your conference peers.
