Training is critical in the success of any organization, but often training materials lack a human element. When soft skills are missing, training becomes a cold, rigid list of boxes to check rather than a meaningful experience employees can use to grow personally and professionally. Training programs sometimes focus on the what, rather than the how. “Every organization operates differently with many unspoken expectations that may seem foreign to new employees,” says Katya Daniel of Golden Hippo. “Including content on cultural competence is critical.” Through this cultural lens, lessons in adaptability, cross-cultural communication, empathy, and creativity should be prioritized. In doing so, workers will see more value in their training, and become better employees—and people—for it.
