Employees have not yet adapted to the pressures caused by the global health crisis of the past two years. According to Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace report, which analyzed the emotional states of thousands of workers from across the world, people are still stressed out and anxious. In fact, these negative emotions are at an all-time high. Worry, anger, and sadness are all at pre-pandemic levels and reaching all-time highs. It’s necessary for leadership to intervene to protect the well-being of their employees. Start by capturing data on your team members’ well-being. When leaders have insight into the state of affairs, they can take better action. It also helps to include employee well-being into your culture. At the start of the pandemic, employee engagement increased due to employers communicating, listening, and offering support to their workers. Since that time, however, engagement has steadily declined as the status quo has crept back in. By returning to a state of empathy and understanding, well-being will improve.
