The continuing debate over employees returning to the office or working from home just got a little more interesting. Tech giant Facebook recently announced it will allow all full-time workers to continue working from home indefinitely if their job requirements allow for it. In a memo to employees, CEO Mark Zuckerburg wrote, “We’ve learned over the past year that good work can get done anywhere, and I’m even more optimistic that remote work at scale is possible, particularly as remote video presence and virtual reality continue to improve.” This statement is a deviation from the plans Facebook announced in May, noting that the company would only allow its most senior and experienced employees to request to work from home full time. Zuckerburg also announced that employees who would like to return to the office will be allowed to do so; however, the company requested that employees who want more traditional arrangements to come into the office at least half of their time to ensure these communities remain vibrant.
