It’s looking like more major employers are hopping on the remote work bandwagon. Facebook recently announced to more than 60,000 employees that it would be expanding its remote-work eligibility to workers at all levels within the company, including early-career employees and entry-level engineers. In a memo, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said he planned to spend as much as half of next year working remotely. “I’ve found that working remotely has given me more space for long-term thinking and helped me spend more time with my family, which has made me happier and more productive at work,” he wrote. The company says it will be opening most of its US offices to half capacity in September and fully by October. At that time, employees who haven’t received approval to remain fully remote will be expected to come into the office at least half of the time. Zuckerberg understands this transition to remote work is inevitable—he has previously stated that he expects more than half of Facebook’s staff to be working from home over the next ten years.
