It’s the employer’s role to provide workers with more than just menial jobs and an acceptable paycheck. To remain competitive, organizations must help their employees thrive. When a workplace is thriving, employees will experience vitality in their work—a feeling of passion, of energy. For this to happen, though, employers must prioritize learning. Employers must provide thriving employees with opportunities to grow and learn new things. They will want to hone their existing skills and develop new ones to improve at their jobs. They’ll want to experiment with new ideas—new methods of doing things—to excel. When given the freedom to do this and the tools they’ll need to succeed, this cycle becomes self-perpetuating into a culture of learning that all employees will participate in. The result is increased productivity and a renewed sense of engagement.
