Organizational success is directly tied to the ability of your workforce to evolve. Training is a major factor in this; however, many companies’ learning and development initiatives are fatally flawed. Simply put, they just don’t accomplish their stated goals. So how can companies better deliver training to their team members? Start by ensuring that the materials are relevant and timely. Employees want information that will help them perform their jobs better. Deliver training in small, easily digestible micro-learning moments. With this in mind, it’s also very important to consider and value your workers’ time. Consider your workers’ pay and how much time you’re asking them to devote to training. If the ROI is off, your training module is unlikely to be a success. It can also be helpful to involve the employees themselves in the learning process. Ask them where the skills gaps are, and let them inform you of how to best deliver the information that they need.
