More than a quarter of the US workforce quit their jobs in 2021, and this trend isn’t slowing down. Employees are leaving in droves, and many more are planning their exits. According to a recent study, as many as 40 percent of employees are certain they will be looking for new positions over the next six months. Why are they leaving, though? The study also revealed that a lack of opportunity for career development and advancement was a primary reason for quitting, even though organizations that invest in their employees’ development are twice as likely to retain talent and increase their profitability by up to 11 percent. But not all development programs are created equally. If you want to retain talent through training, make sure your training programs are learner led. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to employee development, and you need to listen to your employees when deciding which programs would benefit the organization the most.
