It’s not an overstatement that many people feel unprepared for the future of work—to a point that threatens productivity and job satisfaction. According to a recent study conducted by Amazon and Workplace Intelligence, 70 percent of people don’t feel prepared to handle the changing professional landscape. The study also found that 80 percent of people are concerned by at least one global issue so much so that it negatively affects them professionally. Younger people, it seems, are more affected, but 44 percent of people across the board said they feel more anxious and discouraged than ever before. But the study isn’t all bleak; 59 percent said that better skill development would help them achieve higher pay, 48 percent felt training would help with their work-life balance, and 41 percent said it helped them find greater purpose and meaning in their jobs.
