The new year is always a time for a change. Maybe you want to lose 10 pounds. Maybe you want to take up mountain biking. Go for it—2022 is your year. But something else that needs to change in the new year is the way we think about employee training. In 2022, you should pivot your training programs to focus more on upskilling and reskilling. As the pace of change continues to increase, employees have to unlearn skills and competencies and replace them with new practices and methodologies. How you deliver this training also needs to change. Hybrid and remote work are here to stay, and training needs to be just as effective for decentralized team members as it is for traditional in-office employees. Look to deploy on-demand training modalities with real-world applications. Finally, make sure soft skills aren’t neglected in your training materials. Commit to training on topics like empathy, time management, communication skills, and inclusion to refresh your employee training in the new year.
