Culture doesn’t depend on a physical space—at least that’s what research is telling us. Leaders demanding that their employees return to the office full time to preserve the culture might not have a full understanding of what culture actually is. In fact, hybrid workers—those who work some of the time in the office and some of the time remotely—are the ones reporting they feel most connected to their organization. About 23 percent of hybrid workers say they feel connected to their organization, compared with 20 percent of employees overall. Conversely, hybrid managers are struggling the most. Compared to fully remote and traditional counterparts, hybrid managers feel less connection and less support. Explore hybrid work arrangements, but make sure your management tier is getting the support and guidance they need from leadership. They’re struggling the most right now.
