ASTD recently announced a partnership with e-Learning for Kids, a global nonprofit foundation dedicated to providing free online learning for children. Volunteer staff members of e-Learning for Kids will exhibit at ASTD's 2007 International Conference & Exposition in Atlanta, from June 3-6.
Founded in 2004, e-Learning for Kids helps children ages five through 12 build and improve basic skills with interactive and engaging courses in language arts, science, math, computers, and health and life skills. Courses are developed by leading e-Learning vendors and volunteer professionals, and go through a thorough quality review by QA experts, parents, children, and teachers prior to release. All courseware is available for free and unlimited use to schools, parents, and community centers. Numerous courses are currently being translated to Spanish.
Recently, e-Learning for Kids CD-ROM courseware was distributed to 2,000 children at the Takoradi Educational Resource Center in Ghana and to over 800 schools spread across India. In addition, through a partnership with Close the Gap--an organization that has shipped more than 30,000 computers to schools and organizations in the developing world--future computers will be preloaded with e-Learning for Kids software.
Visit the e-Learning for Kids booth (#1436) in Atlanta to learn more about the organization. Nick van Dam, founder and chairman of e-Learning for Kids and chief learning officer for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, will be on hand to sign copies of his recently published book, 25 Best Practices in Learning & Talent Development. In conjunction with support from the ASTD Store, all proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the foundation.
