While the pandemic might be winding down, don’t fall into the trap of believing the Great Resignation is over. According to a study by consulting firm PwC, one in five workers globally plans to quit their job in 2022. How can employers keep their people from walking out the door during this time of labor upheaval? First, focus on job satisfaction. Fair compensation is, of course, the most important factor in this equation, but it’s followed closely by fulfillment in one’s job and the ability to be one’s true self at work. Care for one’s well-being also ranked highly. In addition, the study found that flexibility is going to be key in retaining employees, but there seems to be a disconnect between what leadership and employees want in this regard. A little over a quarter of respondents said they would prefer working remotely full time, but only 18 percent said that their employer would adopt that model. Consider this when evaluating your work-from-home policies: Full-time, traditional employees were less satisfied with their jobs than those working in hybrid or fully remote positions.
