Training is essential to the continued success of any organization, but some leaders are wary about investing the time and resources needed to make these endeavors worthwhile. What if the training is a waste of time? This is a legitimate concern, but ensure you’re asking the converse, too. Can you afford to not train your people? What will happen if you don’t? The good news is there is almost always a return on investment (ROI) for training. According to a report recently released by Skillsoft based on survey data collected from over 500 companies, companies with formal learning programs experience an average ROI of 24 percent, with some organizations seeing returns as high as 60 percent. The report encourages three key areas of training, covering written communication, unconscious biases, and virtual work skills. To see positive returns on your training investments, your organization should prioritize creating a comprehensive L&D program addressing both technical and soft skills to maximize the benefits of the investment.
