The primary benefits of training are understood—it helps employees do a better job, makes organizations more productive, and helps reduce turnover. But there‘s more to it than that. For example, organizations that prioritize training and development are also increasing transparency. Loyalty is a two-way street. When leaders provide their employees with opportunities to develop that will further their career path, a clear demonstration of commitment to the workforce is made. It also helps employees better understand their potential career options—options they might not have considered in the past which helps companies develop talent internally rather than hire externally. Training can also create more active, engaged, and curious team members and can help drive employees to invest in their own development. “Accessible on-demand training gives employees agency to pursue their career goals, lean into their interests, and take their future into their own hands,” said Courtney Pace of FedEx‘s Employee Credit Association. “Employees are much more likely to stay in a job where they feel support and opportunities to grow.”
