To say the world of work has changed during the past two years would be a significant understatement, but several key lessons have emerged over this time that employers can take beyond the pandemic. First is how to deliver training to a distributed workforce. To do this, start by asking some questions. Does the training need to be live? What tools are necessary to deliver it? How can the training sessions better drive employee engagement, and how will feedback about the success or shortcomings of the training be delivered? By focusing on these questions, training will be more effective across a decentralized workforce and results can be maximized. It's also important to embrace and leverage asynchronous training. While traditionally synchronous training—training in which everyone met together live and trained in real-time—made sense, smart companies are looking to asynchronous formats to make training available when and where it's needed, which greatly increases its accessibility and utility.
