Unlearning Hustle Culture

So-called “hustle culture” is the notion that to be successful, a person needs to work harder than everyone around else, put in more hours, and sacrifice rest, relaxation, and recovery. In theory, it makes sense, but people just aren't built to hustle in the long term. It’s unsustainable, and it needs to be unlearned. To do so, start by protecting your time and your energy. Taking breaks and prioritizing rest have been shown to boost productivity overall. Stop multitasking and learn to say “no” effectively. Drawing boundaries around what you can and can’t do will improve the quality of your work. Seek out help when necessary and define your own needs and values. Everyone wants to be working for something. What are you working for?
