In the rapidly evolving labor market, resilience is the name of the game. Employees must be resilient by acquiring new and valuable skill sets, and employers must increase resilience by establishing programs to impart new skills to their workforces. This seems like a no-brainer, so why are people in leadership missing the point? In a recent study, nearly half of C-suite leaders said that attracting talent was a significant challenge, but the same study revealed that barely a third of these organizations have expanded their benefits to boost employee retention efforts. Education is the most requested benefit. A recent LinkedIn report revealed that 94 percent of employees would stay in their position longer if their employer supported their professional development. Leaders need to start treating their workforce like their technological tools—you upgrade your technology, so why wouldn’t you upskill your workforce?
