The White House recently announced it will be launching a summer-long initiative to encourage organizations and labor unions to cooperate with the goal of training more workers in the broadband, constitution, and electric vehicle manufacturing sectors. The program, called the Talent Pipeline Challenge, will help employers leverage state and local government funds provided by the $1 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to increase the supply of workers prepared to take high-quality, high-paying jobs. “This is a nationwide call to action for employers; education and training providers; states, local, Tribal, and territorial governments; and philanthropic organizations to make tangible commitments that support equitable workforce development” in the three sectors, the White House said. As fears of a possible recession and growing concerns over high inflation abound, the move strategically puts resources in place to help American businesses and workers—particularly young folks and people of color.
