The American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) announces that Brian Miller, Senior Director of Learning & Development for Gilead Sciences, has joined the Society’s Board of Directors for a three year term, 2014-2016.
Mr. Miller oversees all employee development including executive development. The Learning and Development function also has responsibility for performance and career management, organizational design, new hire/new manager orientation, as well as change management and team building tools. Prior to joining Gilead, Mr. Miller was the director of Amgen’s Global Learning & Development function. He also served as an executive consultant and worked for several Fortune 500/1000 organizations including Adidas, Citibank, Ford Motor Company, HP, Microsoft, and Nike.
Mr. Miller has published articles for ASTD’s Training + Development (T+D) magazine and LiNE Zine. He has spoken at industry conferences including Harvard University’s iS2K conference, the MASIE Center’s TechLearn conference, Online Learning conference, and the NAAAHR National conference.
He received an Ed.M. in Technology in Learning with honors from Harvard Graduate School of Education. His research included these focus areas: digital collaboration—how technology can support learning theories, strategic implementation of technology, and managing technology—the costs and benefits of digitization.
