Readers of The Public Manager,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for loyal support of The Public Manager (and its venerable predecessor, The Bureaucrat). From the beginning, we've tried to make it all about how to help government—and government managers—work better. By publishing proven, practical recipes for success, we hope we've made your jobs, perhaps the toughest in government, a little easier.
Like you, we've had to deal with increasingly severe resource constraints, even as we've gone digital in an effort to cut our costs. And like many publications today, our subscription and advertising revenues are down as well. Bottom line: We've reached the conclusion that we just can't sustain The Public Manager in its current form, so we're evaluating our options for the future of the publication.
As we work through this process, this issue of The Public Manager will be our last, until further notice. That said, our parent organization, the Association for Talent Development (ATD), will continue to provide articles and other content of interest to human capital and learning professionals in government, so look for that on ATD's website, as well as in its TD magazine. That's also where you'll find information on the future of The Public Manager.
In the meantime, please know that we're grateful to our contributors, partners, advertisers, and above all, you, our readers, for your support. No matter what happens to The Public Manager, we know the challenges you face every day, and you will continue to inspire us.
