If your company doesn't want to lose out on the competitive advantage of artificial intelligence, take a proactive approach to integrating AI systems in the workplace.
1. Don't wait for regulation.
Focus on the best uses where AI tools can save time and money. You and your company's legal and IT partners can then develop and apply relevant internal policies that ensure staff's safe and ethical use of AI.
2. Rely on the wisdom of the crowd.
The best way to know what will help staff is by asking them. Educate them on AI in general and the particular systems within the company to create a level of comfort across the workforce.
3. Prioritize understanding prompts.
AI tools typically produce results only as sophisticated as the user leading the inquiry. Inform employees on proper prompt engineering. Understanding specificity, detail, and context in relation to AI generates the most useful outputs.
4. Test and iterate.
As staff become comfortable with AI, continue to try new applications. Capabilities continuously evolve, so carve out time to test the latest parameters.
