If you were to hold up a map of the world as it existed in 1943, when the Association for Talent Development (previously ASTD) was founded, and compare it with a map of the world in 2018, you would see many changes, large and small. New countries exist, borders have shifted, and places once considered remote are now reached by modes of travel and communication that were unimaginable 75 years ago. Our profession has evolved to meet the requirements of a changing world and a dynamic business environment. ATD has grown substantially during the past 75 years, but what has remained constant is our purpose: developing people who develop others.
