Ten new trends are taking over HR this year.
Wed May 01 2019
Which talent trends will shape the HR profession in 2019? That's the question Randstad Sourceright sought to answer in its 2019 Talent Trends Report. The study surveyed C-suite and human capital leaders to achieve a greater understanding of their talent strategy goals. Eight-three percent of respondents said that their mission is to create a measurable impact on business performance, up from 57 percent in Randstad Sourceright's first Talent Trends Report in 2016. That increase shows the evolving nature of the talent leader's role and the growing need to tie talent development to concrete business goals.
The report identifies 10 specific trends that are shaping the world of talent in 2019. Many of these trends relate to organizations' need to combat talent scarcity in a low unemployment economy. The top trend identified is companies embracing a holistic talent acquisition approach that encompasses both permanent hires and contingent workers, as well as leveraging robotics and automation. Other trends that help combat talent scarcity include:
creating talent communities to help keep in touch with active and passive job candidates and particularly "silver medalist" candidates who were almost hired but just missed the cut
nurturing ongoing relationships with talent throughout the hiring process and once a new employee has started
leveraging technology to help access talent
using robotics to fill certain job vacancies.
This report also identifies trends related to analytics. One such trend is using HR analytics to enable workforce diversity and inclusion by sourcing and attracting diverse candidates. Another involves the greater expectations organizations will place on HR now that they have advanced talent analytics at their disposal. HR will need to meet these expectations to become top C-suite advisers, another trend the report identifies. The report's insights can guide HR and talent leaders to hire top talent, help that talent feel engaged and included once they have been hired, and leverage these successes to elevate their own status as true business partners.
