Every trainer has probably had an experience with a hostile participant, that person who at the very least is silent and withdrawn. Sometimes the individual is openly argumentative, condescending, and disruptive. I have had my fair share of such participants, especially when conducting diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Challenging though they may be, I have learned a great deal from them, and at times the hostile participants can become the most committed learners when given the chance.
