Development keeps Chinese Workers Engaged

The article reports on a 2006 research on Chinese companies' engagement with social development, conducted to over 100 organizations by a global human resource (HR) and financial advice company Mercer Human Resource Consulting Inc. Results showed that 54% of the respondents were experiencing an increased turnover of professional staff, while 42% experienced higher turnover among support staff. Meanwhile, the average tenure for 25- to 35-year-old employees have declined to two years in 2005 from three to five years in 2004. However, social development was found to offer employee satisfaction and challenges, as training develops their confidence, knowledge, and management skills, despite offering invaluable networking opportunities.
