For adult learners, understanding the relevance of new learning materials is essential. Without this understanding, adults lose focus and are unlikely to attend to information closely enough to remember it later. Learner-centered discussions can be highly effective in proving relevance to learners, so long as learning professionals carefully prepare for each discussion. By considering the following key factors in the planning and facilitation of these discussions, learning professionals can steer adult learners toward a targeted outcome, and keep them engaged throughout the process.
