The article focuses on ways in which consulting firm Braxton uses and measures electronic learning (e-learning) for development of its employees. Seeking to build on its initial experiment with e-learning to augment its e-business training initiative, Braxton's chief learning officer Nick van Dam, who helped devise that initiative, sought funding for e-learning infrastructure to extend and institutionalize Braxton's use of digital learning. That meant lobbying C-level executives for the needed funding. The bulk of its content is provided by SkillSoft Corp. through a 10 million dollar, five-year contract that allows Braxton employees virtually unlimited access to SkillSoft's online course library, whose topics span information technology, business skills, and executive education.
