The article discusses the legal and business implications of identity theft in the U.S. According to the Consumer Sentinel, a complaint database developed and maintained by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, more than 635,000 consumer and identity theft complaints usually happened in the work environment have been reported. States and public officials are outlining identity theft laws to fight this growing problem. Also, business entrepreneurs must be aware of these laws enacted since they will be responsible for the awareness of their employees and will be establishing development programs.
