The article reports on the results of a survey on the growing need of cultivated leaders, conducted by Right Management Consultants Inc. Findings revealed that fewer firms are recruiting senior-level executives from outside the business. Only 29 percent of the respondents are courting away from their competitors, 27 percent are recruiting from firms other than competitors and 20 percent are hiring from outside their industries. Debbie Schroeder-Saulnier, managing principal and lead organizational consultant for the firm, said that companies prefer their own future executives from the bottom up because these people already acquired a greater knowledge of the corporate culture. Executives recruited from the outside failed because of lack of familiarity and compatibility of the culture.
