In the article "How to Partner With a Training Supplier," published in the July 2003 issue of the journal "T+D" the author Michael Rosenthal discusses the importance of relationship management in supplier success. Negotiating a deal is important but that's only beginning. As a vendor manager the author learned that ongoing communication and management of relationships with suppliers is paramount. Dialogues that begin during contracts negotiation needs to continue throughout life of supplier relationship. Both supplier and customer must share accountability for maintaining ongoing communication and managing the relationship for productive results.
