L&D veterans spearhead many of the podcasts in the training space, offering sage advice to listeners from an experienced vantage point. But learning professionals new to the industry and those in the developing stages of their career need advice too. Nyla Spooner, a midcareer instructional designer, created the podcast I'm New Here: A Podcast for New Instructional Designers & E-Learning Developers to offer guidance to those new to talent development.

Episodes cover such topics as the different types of instructional designers, what it means to be entry level, and how to receive feedback. In the episode "Creating Your Instructional Design Philosophy," Spooner highlights questions novice TD professionals should ask themselves as they craft their own instructional design philosophy, such as "What do I believe about learning?," "How do I define instructional design?," and "What learning models do I prefer using?" And in the episode, "What Is Entry-Level Anyway?," Spooner sets a baseline definition of what an entry-level instructional design job looks like. She then discusses why companies may be looking for a few years of experience for those applying to entry-level positions. Most episodes run around 15 minutes and are available on major podcast platforms.
