The article reports that WestNet Learning Technologies consistently reassesses its information systems to remain competitive in the workplace training and development. Joe Scullion, president and CEO of WestNet Learning, said that they developed a single-source content strategy to improve the quality and speed-to-market for learning products and to leverage intellectual property to generate customized products rapidly, while continuing to lower the costs associated with production and maintenance. WestNet recognized to store content in a granular and structured manner to achieve a single-source strategy for the development of its multiple training products. The use of extensible markup language to develop learning objects versus course-based formats was crucial for the development of WestNet's e-learning courseware. Furthermore, WestNet is planning to develop new processes and templates to create an instructional design model for developing media-rich web courses, instructor and student guides, classroom slide decks, syllabi and assessments.
