This article focuses on the teaching of leadership development program in several organizations. Blanchard Valley Health Association (BVHA), headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, is a multifacility health-care system that employs 1700 associates. A needs assessment undertaken by BVHA's organizational development and education department in 2002, revealed a need to train supervisors and managers in leadership skills that were closely tied to the work, says Amy Kincaid, education specialist. The two-week, classroom-based Management Development School offered at Orkin is a finishing school for branch managers, says Lisa Metcalf, manager of instructional design at Orkin University, Bellevue, Washington.
