This article reports that for any organization, sharing experiential knowledge and lessons learned is crucial. But the practice can literally mean the difference between life and death in the military. Formal training still develops U.S. Army leaders and gives them the foundational knowledge they need. But experiential knowledge is being transferred via some new tools in the Army's arsenal: web sites developed in peacetime by past company commanders wanting to pass on what they know to the next generation of leaders.
