The article reports that the enterprise leadership learning and development team of Merck & Co. Inc. has designed web-based courses on lean manufacturing. The purpose of these courses was to provide a consistent message to their employees on the concepts and application of lean manufacturing. All the courses were to be developed within 90 days. The duration of each course is between 60 and 90 minutes. The contents of each of them were integrated with knowledge verification processes. It was mandatory to score 80 to receive course credit. This initiative was supported by a succession of Flash messages and targeted emails.
