The process of updating the Association for Talent Development's World-Class Sales Competency Model included a comprehensive review of trends that are shaping the sales profession, as well as an exploration of the impact of these trends on the competencies needed by sales professionals today and in the future. Twelve trends emerged from this examination, and the aggregate implications for sales organizations have been identified.
