An interview with Terry J. Lundgren, chief executive officer (CEO), chairman of the board, and president of Macy's Inc. When asked about the role of learning in the integration of 190,000 employees from Federated Department Stores Inc. and May Co. as a result of their merger in 2005, he claims that learning has a great impact although both companies shared different cultures. He admits that differentiation of assortments of products is their first priority. He asserts that learning is critical.
