Medical schools have the enormous responsibility of producing physicians who are competent, empathic, and ready to take on the rising demands of patient care. Today's doctors not only must be prepared to treat patients from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of symptoms and concerns, but they also must be able to do so within an increasingly complex healthcare system. As such, it is critical that physicians are skilled and knowledgeable as well as resilient and emotionally intelligent.
