Transferring knowledge and skills across different contexts isn’t automatic.

Within psychological research, transfer refers to the ability for someone to apply skills learned within one domain to a novel and oftentimes completely different domain. Although most people assume that once someone masters a skill in one realm it becomes freely transferable across all realms, that is simply not the case. An unfortunate quirk of human cognition is that transfer does not happen automatically.
