Generation Z—those born between 1997 and 2012—gravitate toward short-form media more than previous generations. According to marketing firm Semrush, TikTok generates approximately 1 billion unique visits per month, one in four users are younger than 20 years old, and the short-form video hosting service boasts more Gen Z users than Instagram.

Consuming media in snack-size portions means younger workers, known as the snippet generation, get bored more easily and will require leaders to rethink training strategies.

Because Gen Zers have spent much of their lives with a smartphone and access to social media, they are accustomed to processing information on a broad range of topics. However, absorbing a vast amount of information can prevent young workers from focusing on important details. To balance focus and productivity, learning management system platform TalentLMS suggests tactics such as using videos for storytelling, creating immersive experiences, and leveraging microlearning.
