The article reports on the results of the study conducted by Spherion Corporation in the U.S. Researchers found out a discouraging trend regarding employees training and development. The study also uncovered that less than 20 percent of the employers are well established to attract and retain workers. Workers listed training and development as their eighth retention drivers. Findings demonstrate the gap between what the employees wanted and what was provided by employers. Furthermore, is shows that about 97 percent of all firms in the U.S. offer at least two training and development program per year. Based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly 90 percent are offering such programs for employee retention. A graph depicting the development programs offered to employees is presented.
