Don Stanley was named Senior Manager, Management Development in January 2013. In this role, Don is responsible for creating Grainger’s management development strategy and leading a team to develop and deploy cost-effective learning solutions that build manager effectiveness. Don previously served as Director, Leadership Development Programs, with responsibility for leadership development programs ranging from new manager onboarding through executive development. He joined Grainger in 1991 and has a proven track record of results in learning and leadership development, learning delivery, learning technology, and learning operations. Don started his career at Grainger in customer service and then sales for Grainger’s U.S. Business. Don has led teams that have developed and deployed learning and leadership development solutions across the globe in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. Don’s current team has developed and deployed Grainger’s first-ever enterprise-wide leadership development programs for emerging leaders, new managers, and experienced managers. In his learning and leadership development tenure, Don has led other efforts that have been firsts for Grainger, including the implementation of Grainger’s learning management system, the development and global deployment of Grainger’s strategy learning map, and the creation of Grainger’s first action learning executive development program, the Global Leadership Development Program. Don holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Northwestern University. Don is a recipient of the Western Golf Association’s Chick Evans Scholarship, whose mission is awarding college scholarships to caddies from modest means. W.W.
